ART
Ugh....my artist "Bio". For me, looking at art is a visual and emotional experience and is not necessarily enhanced by words or intellect. However, making art is a mysterious process and I guess some words might help shed some light.
When I was growing up, I don’t remember thinking “I want to be an artist” because I just was an artist. I had the great good fortune to attend CCAC (California College of Arts and Crafts BFA 1988) where I studied printmaking and drawing and had all the time in the world to be in the studio and make art. One very wise teacher told our class that the vast majority of us would not continue to make art after college, which of course I took to be a direct challenge!
Over the ensuing 36 years since getting my degree, I’ve made prints, drawings, sculptures, and paintings always feeling driven to create visual art. These days, making art is something I've decided I don't have to understand or justify, rather, I try to just follow the mystery and see where it leads me. I suppose the images are my small way of sharing myself with others, my way of making connections and hopefully my way of bringing more positivity by continuing to create.
